Mandarin Pronunciation App

A movable mouth model turns hard-to-see Mandarin tongue positions into a timed, interactive challenge for flat and retroflex consonants.

Demo walkthrough

The browser activity lets a learner hear a syllable, position a movable tongue and test the choice against a mouth diagram for flat and retroflex contrasts.

The reported build focuses on z/zh, c/ch and s/sh. Its drag limits make the articulation position matter, while timed rounds, replay and touch or mouse input give repeated practice a game rhythm. Nasal contrasts, voice recording and personalised paths remain named future possibilities, not features the page claims are already delivered.

See where the tongue should go

  • A dynamic oral-cavity diagram with a movable tongue
  • Timed ten-question challenges built around target syllables
  • Visual validation of flat and retroflex tongue positions
  • Mouse and touch input for browser use
  • Victory and restart feedback after each round

Delivered scope

The final report describes a fully functional browser application covering flat and retroflex contrasts.
